Douglas Kupas, MD, FACEP
Dr. Kupas has served as the Commonwealth EMS Medical Director for the Pennsylvania Department of Health since 2000. He is a member of the National Association of State EMS Officials and is former chair of the NASEMSO Medical Directors Council. Dr. Kupas is a paramedic and has been a practicing EMS provider for over 35 years. As an emergency physician and EMS physician, his academic and research interests have included EMS provider and patient safety, EMS airway care, trauma triage, cardiac arrest outcomes, and EMS end-of-life care. Dr. Kupas is an emergency physician and EMS physician at Geisinger Health System, where he serves as the Associate Chief Academic Officer for Simulation and Medical Education, and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Lewis Katz Medical School at Temple University.
